Jim Gillen, director of Anchor Recovery Community Center and clinical coordinator of recovery services at The Providence Center, was honored by Faces & Voices of Recovery and the Hazelden Foundation’s Center for Public Advocacy with the 2011 Vernon Johnson Award, which recognizes the contributions of the country’s most influential recovery community leaders.

Gillen was also selected by the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless as the 2011 recipient of its Sr. Judy Soares and John Coen Award presented annually to the homeless provider in Rhode Island who demonstrates exceptional service and compassion for the homeless, and the 2011 Bronze Key Award granted by the National Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Depencence to an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of alcoholism and drug addiction.

     
    Kenia Richards, bilingual employment specialist, recently graduated from the Latina Leadership Institute, a project of the Rhode Island Civic Fund created to promote civic duty, volunteerism and leadership development among Latina women.
     

President/CEO Dale K. Klatzker, Ph.D.

  In May 2010, President/CEO Dale K. Klatzker, Ph.D, was recognized for his support of recovery by the Rhode Island Communities for Addiction Recovery, who honored him with the Advocate of the Year Award.

Klatzker was also selected to the 2010 Rhode Island Foundation Fellows Program, a program of the Institute for Nonprofit Excellence. The Fellows Program provides research and development support for executive directors to explore new initiatives for their organizations.
