facility created the 2012 Recovery Quilt. The women are part of The
Providence Center's Addiction Treatment and Recovery Services program that helps inmates learn new skills
and behaviors that support their recovery from substance abuse and helps
them to avoid future criminal behavior.

First Day of School for State’s First Recovery High School
The Providence Center opened the doors to Rhode Island’s first
recovery high school today, Anchor Learning Academy. The school is an
innovative approach to helping students who have completed substance
abuse treatment keep up with their peers academically while focusing on
maintaining their recovery from substance abuse. The school, which was
approved as a 2 year pilot project by Rhode Island’s Board of Regents
for Elementary and Secondary Education in March, was developed in
recognition of the high number of students who have substance abuse
problems in our state and are forced to return to unsafe environments
when they complete treatment.

Taco/White Supports New Boilers at Providence Center
The Providence Center recently purchased and installed four new gas-fired, high-efficiency boilers at its physical plant at 530 Main St., thanks to a $20,000 gift from the Taco/White Foundation. The new energy system will save almost $40,000 in energy costs a year over the previous boilers, which date back to the 1960s.
