The Providence Center honors Dominion Diagnostics and Dave and Marge Sluter
PROVIDENCE, RI (November 2, 2010)—The Providence Center honored Dominion Diagnostics, LLC, and Dave and Marge Sluter of New England Construction Company for their philanthropic support of the community at its annual Circle of Stars event on Wednesday, October 27, at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Circle of Stars raised $166,000 in support of The Providence Center’s Coping with Crisis fund, which supports uninsured and underinsured children, adults and families who rely on The Providence Center for mental health and substance use services.
The Providence Center is one of Rhode Island’s largest community mental health centers annually serving nearly 10,000 adults, children and adolescents experiencing mental health and substance use problems.
Dale K. Klatzker, Ph.D., president/CEO of The Providence Center described honorees Dominions Diagnostics and Dave and Marge Sluter as “perfect examples of people and organizations who understand our mission to provide the best and most effective services to our clients who seek to live full and productive lives.” Klatzker continued, “The Providence Center is working with partners in the community not only to ensure that our clients receive exceptional services, but also to create a health care delivery system that shares our recovery-focused philosophy and demonstrates our commitment to the people we serve.”

Dominion Diagnostics, LLC, located in North Kingstown, R.I., is the premier provider of comprehensive clinical quantitative toxicology screening, medication monitoring and support services nationwide. For the past eight years, Dominion has been a major contributor to The Providence Center, offering valuable in-kind services that support its clients’ recovery.

Dave Sluter, founder and chief executive officer of New England Construction Company, together with his wife Marge, vice president of the company (pictured at right), are loyal supporters of The Providence Center and other local organizations. “Dave and Marge Sluter get it—they know about the stigma associated with mental health and substance use problems,” Klatzker said. “They know about the unmet need for services, and they know that the support of these services is needed now more than ever.”
Dave Sluter stressed the importance of The Providence Center’s services to the community: “Tonight is about all the people who rely on The Providence Center for the essential services they need to succeed in their families and community. Without The Providence Center, these people would have nowhere to turn. The Providence Center is their safety net.”
