Early Childhood Institute
Training for Mental Health Professionals

Early Childhood specialists present training workshops to mental health professionals and social work students relating to the developmental process and emotional needs of young children. These trainings examine:

Professional Partnerships
Participants examine professional boundaries and the role they play in developing and maintaining productive and professional relationships with parents, other agencies, and among staff members.

Social and Emotional Learning
These trainings will identify components of social and emotional development and the ways in which teachers and other professionals can help children grow and learn. Topics include impulse control, managing feelings, and social skills. Participants also learn how to help children develop self-care skills and a motivation to succeed.

Behavioral Management Strategies
Participants learn about the development of impulse control and the ways in which that development can be promoted in the preschool environments. Topics include home and classroom design and adult/child interaction. Discussions include specific examples of problematic situations that can occur at home and in the classroom.

Parent Workshops

Workshops can be customized for parents on topics such as child development, parenting skills, and behavior management strategies.
