THE PROVIDENCE CENTER ANNOUNCES NEWLY ELECTED
OFFICERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

PROVIDENCE, RI (December 5, 2006) – The Providence Center, a community-based, outpatient behavioral health organization, today announced the following newly elected officers of the Board of Trustees.

James Botvin has been appointed Chair of The Providence Center’s Board of Trustees. He has been an active member of the Board for the past five years previously serving as Treasurer, Chair of the Finance and Pension Committees, and as a member of the External Affairs Committee.

Botvin brings over 30 years of business experience to The Center. He is the president of Colonial Toyota in Pawtucket, RI, and is a member of the Rhode Island Dealers’ License Commission. Botvin is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. He resides in Warren, RI.

Nancy Fisher Chudacoff, an attorney and partner at Hardy Tabor & Chudacoff in Pawtucket, RI, has been appointed Vice Chair of The Providence Center’s Board of Trustees. Chudacoff has been an active member of The Center’s Board for over 13 years serving as Board Secretary and Chair of the Finance Committee. In addition to her role as Vice Chair, Chudacoff is the current Chair of the Patient Care Committee. She has volunteered on numerous other boards, including the Rhode Island Historical Society, Temple Beth El, Providence Athenaeum, and Coalition of Library Advocates. She is a member of the Rhode Island and Massachusetts bars.

Chudacoff is a cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law as well as a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She resides in Providence, RI.

Joel Stark brings over 32 years of broad business and community experience to The Providence Center as the newly elected Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. Stark held a series of business-related positions for “The Providence Journal Company,” retiring as Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Development in 2001. Currently a non-profit and small business consultant, Stark works with organizations in all aspects of business development.

Stark has been a member of The Providence Center’s Board since 2004. In addition to his new role as Treasurer, he currently serves as chair of the Finance/Administrative Committee and as a member of the Board’s Executive Committee. Stark is a graduate of Michigan State University and a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development. He resides in Warwick, RI.

Charles Feldman has been appointed as Secretary of The Providence Center’s Board of Trustees. As a member of the Board for the past 15 years, Feldman has served on the Patient Care Committee and was involved in the initiative to develop The Center’s current mission, vision and values statement. He currently serves on the Finance Committee.

Feldman is a passionate advocate for mental health issues. For the past eight years, he has worked as an Administrative Assistant for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Rhode Island. In addition, he serves as Chair on the Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island Board and the Save Our Mental Health Services Coalition. He is also a member of National Alliance on Mental Illness’s National Consumer Council. Feldman resides in Providence, RI.

The Providence Center annually serves over 9,800 adults, children, and adolescents who struggle with mental illness, addiction and emotional problems. Since its establishment in 1969, The Providence Center has been part of Rhode Island’s exemplary behavioral health care system, offering a comprehensive array of treatment and rehabilitation services.
