PROVIDENCE CENTER STAFF HONORED

PROVIDENCE, RI (July 9, 2007) – The following senior staff members at The Providence Center, a community-based, outpatient behavioral health organization, were honored by industry peers at recent receptions:

Providence Center President/CEO Dale K. Klatzker was presented with an award from the Mental Health Consumer Advocates of Rhode Island (MHCA/Oasis), a statewide organization run by and for adults who have experienced psychiatric symptoms or who receive mental health services. Klatzker was honored for his dedication and friendship to MHCA/Oasis at their recent 11th Annual Pathways to Recovery Conference at the Providence Marriott.

Charles Feldman, chair of the MHCA/Oasis Board and Providence Center Board Trustee, presented the award to Klatzker stating, “Dale’s on-going support for our programs has allowed us to be there for people who need help advocating for themselves.”

Sharon Morello, director of Residential Services for The Providence Center was chosen as “Provider of the Year” by the RI Communities for Addiction Recovery Efforts (RICAREs), a grass-roots alliance dedicated to decreasing stigmas about those in alcohol and other drug dependency recovery. The award recognizes individuals who utilize innovative techniques, believe in the consumer’s ability to recover and bring passion to the field of addiction treatment. Morello was presented the award by RICAREs Executive Director Jim Gillen at RICAREs Annual Legislative Day at the State House.

The Providence Center annually serves over 10,000 adults, children, and adolescents who struggle with mental illness, addiction and emotional problems. Since its establishment in 1969, The Providence Center has been part of Rhode Island’s exemplary behavioral healthcare system, offering a comprehensive array of treatment and rehabilitation services.
