THE PROVIDENCE CENTER APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS

PROVIDENCE, RI ( November 2, 2005 ) – The Providence Center, a community-based, outpatient behavioral health organization, today announced the following new board member appointments:

Anne Szostak brings over 32 years of business experience to The Providence Center’s Board of Trustees. In her current position as President and CEO of her own consulting company, Szostak Partners, she advises CEOs on strategic and human resources issues. Szostak has held a series of business related positions including CEO and Chairman of Fleet Bank-Maine and later Fleet Bank-Rhode Island.

Szostak has volunteered on numerous boards. She is the first female to serve as Chairman of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Szostak is also a trustee of Women & Infants Hospital , and serves as director on three NYSE boards: Tupperware, BELO, and Spherion Corporation. Szostak is a graduate of Colby College. She resides in Providence, RI.

Roberta B. Feather brings over 40 years of Psychiatric Nursing expertise to The Providence Center’s Board of Trustees. Currently she is the Clinical Director for Adult Psychotherapy Services located in Providence , Rhode Island . Additionally, she holds a position as Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Rhode Island.

Feather volunteers on numerous community and political committees. She is actively involved in several professional organizations including the American Association of Nurse Attorneys, the American Nurse Association, and the Rhode Island State Nurses Association Council of Psychiatric Nursing. Feather is also on The Friends of Butler Committee and is a member of the History Committee, which is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Butler Hospital. Feather is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a graduate of Boston University and Suffolk University Law School . She resides in Providence , RI.

Rev. Robert T. Brooks brings over 20 years of business experience to The Providence Center’s Board of Trustees. Brooks is currently Rector at Grace Episcopal Church in Providence . Brooks held a series of business related positions including Partner and Director of Cooke & Bieler, an investment counseling firm in Philadelphia .

Brooks has volunteered on numerous committees most recently serving on the Downcity Fund Advisory Board, as well as on the Finance and Investment Committees and on the Diocesan Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Episcopal Divinity School and serves as Director of The Rhode Islanders Supporting Education organization. Brooks is a graduate of Harvard College as well as Harvard Business School and Episcopal Divinity School. He resides in Providence, RI.

The Providence Center annually serves over 9,000 adults, children, and adolescents who struggle with mental illness, addiction and emotional problems. Since its establishment in 1969, The Providence Center has been part of Rhode Island ’s exemplary behavioral health care system, offering a comprehensive array of treatment and rehabilitation services.
