GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Providence Center students receive 100 fleece jackets from
St. Brendan School’s participation in the
“Return the Warmth” program.

(December 22, 2006) Students at St. Brendan School in East Providence joined together to collect 162 pounds of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles as part of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council’s “Return the Warmth” program. This nationwide school-based plastic recycling program encourages schools to recycle plastic bottles (PET) that are turned into fleece jackets for needy children. As one of the top 50 collecting communities in the country, St. Brendan School was awarded 500 fleece jackets to distribute to several local charities in Providence. Specifically, 100 jackets were donated to students at The Providence Center School (ages 3 to 21) who struggle with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
