Beginning in October, The Providence Center will begin offering Healthy Families America home visiting services to pregnant women and families with newborns in Pawtucket.

“The goal of our work in TPC’s Early Childhood Institute is to support the healthy development of families,” said Simmy Carter, director of the Early Childhood Institute.  “We’re excited to add the Healthy Families America home visiting program to the array of services we offer and we’re very pleased to be working in Pawtucket with community partners like Memorial Hospital and Women’s Care.”

Bryna Hebert, manager of Early Childhood Institute's consulting programs, who will direct the HFA project added: “It’s very important to work with families in ways that build on their strengths.  Evidence-based home visiting programs like Healthy Families America do that and help TPC to develop new ways to provide our services in the community.”

TPC’s HFA program will serve up to 25 low-income or at-risk families at a time.  Memorial Hospital and Women’s Care will make referrals.  Funding is being provided by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
