Cara, a grateful patient of The Providence Center, bravely shared her story of recovery from mental health challenges at TPC’s Circle of Stars Gala in 2025. Growing up, Cara struggled with depression and anxiety for years after her dad left her when she was very young. She was diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD), and her symptoms got much worse as a young woman when she was in a severely abusive relationship.
Cara’s journey forward began when she connected with The Providence Center, where she met staff who recognized not only her needs, but also her strengths. Working with TPC’s “Unity” program, a home health team, as well as TPC’s “Employment & Community Services” program, Cara gained a renewed sense of purpose. With staff by her side, she earned her GED, secured financial aid, and mapped out a class schedule at CCRI that supports her goals while allowing her to care for her young son.
